Little is known about this mysterious tattoo artist from Argentina, though his gallery of tattoo pictures speak louder than words to tell a story of an artist with an excellent grounding in geometry, mandala design and tattoo techniques. Nazareno Tubaro works only in black ink, using only the shade of his client’s skin to create contrast in his tattoo designs. To create gradients, Tubaro doesn’t water down the black ink or add white ink to create grey tones. Instead, he employs a dotwork technique that allows him to create both textures and shades at the same time.<\/p>\n

Tubaro’s talent for creating geometric tattoo designs on the curves and dips of the human body is impressive. It’s easy for a straight line to be warped by the shape of the body, but it appears that Tubaro has done his homework and has a few tricks up his sleeve to prevent this from happening. In order to create mandalas, geometric shapes and repetitive patterns, Tubaro has to ensure that each line is perfect. This quest for perfection is important in Tubaro’s style, because geometric mandala designs make up a large part of Tubaro’s tattoo subjects. These also add a spiritual element to his tattoos. Many of Nazareno Tubaro’s tattoo designs offset rigid geometrical shapes against flowing, organic lines to create visual contrast and to draw the viewer’s eye from one part of the tattoo design to another. This is a design method that uses the shape of the human body to give the tattoo form, instead of trying to force the design to fit the body.<\/p>\n
