Rick Genest, aka Rico Zombie, is a Canadian actor, model and performer who has turned his living skin into an artistic rendition of a skeleton in a celebration of death, the macabre and everything morose and depressing.<\/p>\n

It all began when Genest was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He spent 6 months in hospital, where he pondered the nature of life and death. After leaving the hospital, he decided to live an anarchistic lifestyle. He lived on the streets and engaged with the punk rock scene and became involved with freak shows. He began collecting tattoos, covering his body with not just skeletal tattoo designs, but other dark and gothic imagery. He’s even had his head tattooed so that it appears that his skull has been cut away to reveal his brain. He’s worked with Lady Gaga and has appeared in a variety of fashion shows, magazine spreads and films.<\/p>\n
