Xenija Woskresenskaja is an artist from the Eastern European country Belarus. Xenija designs tattoos in a variety of styles, some of which are influenced by existing styles such as Japanese and traditional. Both of these tattoo design styles require strong outlines and broad areas of color. This means that tattoos based on these designs are easy to read from a distance and won’t age into a mush of unrecognizable shapes. In other tattoo drawings, Xenija uses a completely different style, utilizing gradients, highlights and shadows to create contrast instead of creating strong silhouettes with outlines. The quality of Xenija’s varied styles points to an underlying artistic talent honed by practice into an exceptional skill.
While the subject matter in some of her tattoo designs lean toward classic subjects in the form of pin-up girls, tigers and skulls, there are many modern totem animals, symbols and decorative elements that co-exist with the classic subjects. Choosing such subjects allows Xenija’s tattoo to be a link between the past and present by merging the old and the new.
