Damien Wickham is the owner of the Ink Attack tattoo studio on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. In this tattoo video, Wickham creates a newschool pin up tattoo of a cute girl with a cheeky grin, adding to a collection of pin up tattoos that his client already wears.
Wickham’s using a pop surrealist style for this design which resembles the 3D animation characters found in popular films by animation houses like Pixar and Dreamworks. The cartoonish girl has been caricaturized, which means that her features have been exaggerated by being made larger or smaller by the artist. Body parts and facial features are either blown out of proportion or shrunk to make the character highly appealing. While pin up tattoos used to be based on photographs of beautiful women and therefore had natural proportions, new school pin up tattoos focus on the fantasy of a cute girl rather than the reality of an existing woman.
