Karolina Bebop is an artist from Colombia, South America who reflects her perspective of the world in her tattoo art by including fantastic patterns, sacred geometry and spiritual symbolism not just within her designs, but within the creatures that they depict. While the outline of her animals, birds and sea creatures may resemble their real life cousins, their content is made up of repetitive patterns, pieces of mandalas and other decorative elements.
Bebop’s style is reminiscent of American traditional tattoos in that she uses bold outlines, saturated colors and a limited color palette. However, Bebop often uses illustrative techniques such as dotwork and clusters of parallel lines to give her tattoos texture. This aspect of her tattoo art, along with her use of patterns, geometry and paisley designs, sets her work apart from the run-of-the-mill traditional tattoo styles.
