This is What Happens When a Street Artist Becomes a Tattoo Artist

French artist Supakitch is a multi-talented guy. Not only does he create street art murals, indoor wall murals and fine art for gallery sales; he also dabbles in painting other objects such as surfboards and furniture. To top it all off, he’s added tattooing to his list of creative skills, taking bookings through his website. Like his street art and fine art, Supakitch’s tattoos feature smooth, beautifully organic lines. This is no easy task when creating art on pliable skin with a vibrating tattoo machine, but Supakitch proves his skill with each perfect line that he places in his tattoos.

While much of the symbolism and subject matter in his tattoos differs from the forms he uses in his street art; there is still a distinct Supakitch edge to his tattoo designs. Because this artist has collaborated with his wife, Koralie, with street art murals, it will be interesting to see if he chooses to collaborate with another tattoo artist, perhaps someone who will add their own tattoo style to his designs in the form of color.

You can see Supakitch at work with his wife, Koralie in this video on streetsonart.com (The post also includes a picture of Supakitch’s unique way of proposing to Koralie.) For more art by Supakitch, check out his website or Facebook page.

A flying fish is surrounded by flowing lines which are a signature of the style used by tattoo and street artist Supakitch. The tattoo is a symbol of being able to succeed, even when you are a fish out of water.

An arrow carries symbols of freedom, wisdom and dreams in this elegantly simple tattoo by Supakitch
A hand-made arrow brings dreams of flight and fortune in this black ink tattoo by French artist Supakitch. The artist has a very distinctive style which is built around the reoccurrence of specific symbols and shapes.

French artist Supakitch uses flowers and geometry to create the impression that a skull is hidden in this tattoo design
Is it a skull, a bunch of flowers or both? Supakitch combines a symbol of life; flowers, with a symbol of death; a skull. As with many of his designs, he has included signature elements in the form of sparkles, feathers and calligraphic lines.

Several meaningful symbols are hidden in this creative nesting doll tattoo by street artist Supakitch
The innocence of a nesting doll is supported by esoteric symbols in this creative tattoo by Supakitch. The antlers are wrapped in vines; a symbol of wildness and strength. The rose and chrystal jewelry are symbols of romance and the more precious aspects of life such as love and beauty.

Street artist turned tattoo artist Supakitch creates a graphic design portrait tattoo on the thigh
A beautiful girl sheds a single tear from one eye while the other eye is hidden behind her lusciously full hair. Feathers fall from her hair like secrets in a confessional. The addition of furry ears and a pointed tail of hair below her chin make this girl into quite a foxy lady.

Supakitch has a tattoo design style that is very similar to his street art style
This foxy bird character appears in Supakitch’s art works fairly often; often enough to be one of his signature characters. His use of calligraphic lines is also reoccurs throughout his art portfolio, whether in graffiti art or tattoo art.

This fantasy tattoo by Supakitch features a bird with antlers that has been pierced with arrows but still sings
Supakitch is a master of symbolism. Despite being struck through the heart with two arrows, this fantasy bird still sings. The antlers are a symbol of strength and the willingness to fight, while the rain clouds in the background symbolize the rainy days of life; the not-so-good times that bring people down. The fact that both of the negative symbols (the raincloud and the arrows) are behind the character in this tattoo means that this person is willing to move forwards despite having had painful experiences in the past, and they’re going to bluddy well whistle while they do it.
